ATP Degree Arrival Checklist
Arrive prepared for your ATP Degree flight training

Required Documents

Bring the following official documents with you for check-in on day one:

  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate
    (Find a qualified Aeromedical Examiner at FAA.gov)
  • Identification
    • Un-expired, Valid US Passport (Blue), OR
    • Original or Certified Copy of Government-Issued Birth Certificate
      (Birth certificate must meet acceptaable criteria.)

Books & Supplies

Book sets are available at PilotMall.com for each AVIA theory course. Purchase the books for the AVIA theory courses in which you are registered.

Pilot supplies are also available on PilotMall.com. You will need these pilot supplies and gear for your AVIA flight courses:

  • Headset
  • Kneeboard that has an IFR (instrument flight rules) placard
  • Flashlight (Recommend MagLite or Smith & Wesson brands.
    Flashlights with colored lenses recommended to protect night vision.)
  • Travel Bag (carry on size)
  • View Limiting Device
  • VFR Sectional Chart
    (You’ll use your iPad for most flight planning, but a
    paper sectional is helpful during Private Pilot training.)

Notebook Computer

Since all of your AVIA theory courses and other academic courses are conducted online, you will need an up-to-date notebook / laptop computer with WiFi. All ATP training centers have wireless internet access available to you.

Cell Phone Required

You must have an SMS/text messaging-enabled mobile phone to receive important communications from ATP during your training. There is no charge for this service, but standard text messaging rates may apply as provided in your carrier's wireless plan (contact your carrier for pricing plans and details). ATP recommends an “unlimited” text messaging plan, since you may send/receive 100+ text messages per month.

Temporary ATP Housing

If you’re using temporary ATP housing (max four weeks), you will need to also bring the following:

  • Linens for twin size mattress
  • Bath linens
  • Payment for housing

Dress Code

  • Chino-style pants or shorts (solid colors)
  • Long or short sleeve shirts with collar (solid colors)
  • Closed toed shoes (no sandals, flip-flops)

Transportation

You will need a vehicle for transportation to and from the training center.

Arriving at the Training Center

Plan to arrive at 8:00 AM local time to meet your assigned flight instructor and begin the check-in.

Expense Funds Included in Financial Aid

If your financial aid includes funds for education-related expenses in excess of tuition, you can more quickly and easily access this financial aid by setting up a direct deposit account with Sallie Mae Bank.

Saving unused funds this semester means you’ll need to borrow less next semester. Please budget accordingly.
